In February 2013, the Program for Jewish Civilization hosted a major conference entitled "Secularism on the Edge: The Church and the State in the United States, France, and Israel." With an impressive list of participants, the panels and presentations addressed crucial issues about the ramifications of church-state relations for women, religious minorities, religious moderates, and the religiously unaffiliated.
The papers and interviews from the conference have recently been published by Palgrave MacMillan, and the September 16th event will be celebrating the launch of the book, Secularism on the Edge. Additionally, audio and video recordings from the events are available on the conference’s website.
As part of the book launch, Pascale Fournier (University of Ottawa), one of the participants from the conference, will be speaking on the topic of "Quebec, Muslim and Jewish Women, and the Crisis of Canadian Secularism.”
RSVP for this event is requested and may be made at fournier.eventbrite.com.
