The Hal Israel Endowed Lectureship in Jewish-Catholic Relations

December 3, 2018 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

The Hal Israel Endowed Lectureship in Jewish-Catholic Relations is named in memory of Hal Israel (C’92) and seeks to facilitate dialogue and strengthen ties between Jews and Catholics. It explores the many ways in which members of these two faiths continue to replace ancient prejudices with cooperation and understanding in today’s world. We are excited to welcome Fr. Philipp Renczes, S.J., to deliver a talk titled, “What’s New in the Jewish-Catholic Dialogue? Where Do We Stand and Where Do We Go?”

Fr. Philipp Renczes, S.J. was a professor in systematic theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University and an invited professor in historical theology at the Patristic Institute Augustinianum. He earned his doctoral degree in theology at the Institut Catholique de Paris and a PhD in history of religions and religious anthropology from the Paris-Sorbonne University.

A reception will precede the event.

Accommodation requests should be sent to cjcinfo@georgetown.edu. A good faith effort will be made to fulfill all requests.
